Finding a Christ-Centered Christmas in a Culture of Consumerism
This is my first year being truly all-in with Jesus, and I wanted Christmas to reflect that—to feel quieter, holier, centered on Him. But somewhere between the sales, the pressure, and the desire to give my kids everything, I found myself slipping back into old habits. Surrounded by a pile of presents, I realized how easily consumerism can pull us away from the very meaning we’re trying to honor. This season, I’m learning that a Christ-centered Christmas isn’t about perfection—it’s about returning. Returning to peace, to simplicity, to Jesus Himself.
Obedience Isn’t Control — It’s Alignment
Obedience used to feel heavy, controlling, and unsafe. But when Jesus talks about obedience, He’s describing something completely different—an invitation into partnership, freedom, and joy.
When Love Feels Hard
Sometimes loving others feels harder than we want to admit. Ezekiel 36 reminds us that God never asked us to force it. He promises to soften our hearts and give us the capacity to love again. We do not love like Jesus by trying harder, but by yoking up and allowing Him to transform us.
You Can’t Add an Hour… But You Can Yoke Up
This week reminded me of something Jesus said in Luke 12:25—worry doesn’t add anything. The circumstances didn’t magically get easier, but the weight got lighter when I remembered I wasn’t carrying them alone. Jesus was beside me, matching my steps and sharing the burden. That’s the peace that comes when we yoke up.
The Fear of Being Seen
Stepping out in faith felt terrifying… until I remembered I wasn’t doing it alone.
